WATERBERG / LIMPOPO PROVINCE

The Pitse Lodge is secluded in the magnificent, malaria-free Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, bordering on Marakele National Park in South Africa's Limpopo Province.

The Pitse Lodge is a family home, owned by the van Vlissingen family, and is available as an exclusive use residence for up to 10 discerning guests. Considered to be one of the most private, charming and relaxed game lodges - Pitse epitomizes elegant living in the wilderness.

Pitse is situated in a game rich area of the Welgevonden Game Reserve, stitched against an ancient inselberg, it overlooks a swathe of wide open grassy plains and is regularly visited by lion, white rhino which frequent the lawn of the lodge, elephant, zebra, wildebeest, klipspringer, eland, waterbuck, mountain reedbuck, hartebeest, warthog, bushpig, impala, brown hyena and many more. Guests can enjoy the adventure of game drives, or simply revel in the view and visiting game from their private deck.

Guests are invited to indulge in the privacy of their own tranquil suite, to enjoy a quiet moment to themselves in the library, to wallow in the swimming pool during warm summer days or to get cosy with a good wine, a warm fire and friends on cool winter evenings.

Stylish and flamboyantly decorated, five luxurious ensuite thatch and stone chalets at the Pitse Lodge compliment the impressive main lodge which promises to welcome you in quiet spacious lounges, a library, dining area and surrounding decks with views of the surrounding plains and distant mountains. Fireside, candlelit dinners are enjoyed in the boma, under a canopy of stars, where fine pan African cuisine and excellent South African wines are shared.

The lodge has a well stocked library complete with video and CD player facilities. There is a swimming pool and an outside boma for dining. Equipment for small conferences can be arranged on request. Fax and telephone facilities are available.

Given that the lodge is privately let, activities are entirely dependent on the guests' wishes. Game drives and walks at any time of the day or night, picnics and expeditions to the lodge's breeding facility for roan, sable antelope and buffalo can be arranged to meet the guest's requirements.
