Swimming

Each of the tents at the Bush Lodge features a private plunge pool from which guests may enjoy the view of the surrounding countryside.

Game drives

Guests can enjoy daily game drives twice a day, in the early morning and late afternoon when the wildlife is most active.  Visitors may be lucky and encounter the 'Big 5' with plenty of other species to view along the way. The guide educates guests about the Amakhala Conservation ethos and other diverse aspects of the ecosystem.

Walking safari

Guests also have the opportunity to participate in leisurely walking safaris, during which the emphasis is more on the signs of animals that have passed as well as learning about the medicinal uses of various plants.  By walking through the bushveld with an armed ranger, one gets to know the smaller creatures as well.

Spa treatments

Boat cruise and canoeing

At Amakhala's five Star Bush Lodge, only five luxury tents are available which ensures serenity and privacy.  The luxury tents offer an open deck with a plunge pool, air conditioning for heating and cooling, a cozy fireplace, as well as a large oval bath and outdoor shower.

Directions

Directions from Port Elizabeth to the Lodge:

Take the N2 towards Grahamstown from Port Elizabeth
In around 50 km from Port Elizabeth, there will be an intersection, Stay left on the N2 heading to Grahamstown.
From here, drive for a further 13km towards the Game Reserve
(see road signs of various lodges along the way).

Parking

Free unreserved parking at Reed Valley Lodge from which you will be transferred to Bush Lodge.
