Dawsons Game and Trout Lodge offers their guests spa treatments that focus specifically on detoxification and de-stressing in an inspiring environment. Debra started Dandy-Line Spa at Dawsons. Stiglingh, a renowned therapist whose treatments embody her “All natural, all hands on” approach. 

Lengthy treatments beside the fireplace in the privacy and warmth of a guests cottage or outside on the grassland plains of the aloe trees are filled with scents of peppermint, ginger, camphor, lemon verbena, coffee and vanilla.

Dandy-Line’s products are all organic and locally grown, prepared on-site by the therapists, ensuring a holistic approach to the wellness process. Conveniently located off the R38 between Badplaas and Barberton in Mpumalanga, this exclusive game and trout lodge promises unique service and hospitality.

With eight luxurious suites overlooking the Nelshoogte Valley, rooms are new in style with a warm African ambience, off-set with elegant bathrooms and cosy fireplaces. View a variety of fauna and flora, participate in excellent trout fishing or perfect experience game viewing on horseback.

Bird watching

This area of South Africa is home to a unique combination of bird species to thrill even the most avid birder.  Some species include Knysna Louries, Malachite Hum-bird, Olive Bush-Shrike, Trumpeter Hornbill and many more occasional visitors and seasonal migrants.

Game viewing

Dawsons Game & Trout Lodge does not have any dangerous animals on the property, so it is the ideal opportunity to view game safely on foot.  The daily game drives provide guests with the opportunity to either walk from a point or enjoy a unique bush picnic set up on top of a hill overlooking the valley.

Fly fishing

While away the hours by doing what comes naturally at one of the seven well-stocked dams at the Dawsons Game & Trout Lodge.  Expert tuition is available, and guests may have a gourmet picnic set up to enjoy while to practice the art of casting.  The lodge practises catch and release only.

 

Hiking and Walking

The hiking and walking opportunities on the Dawson’s Game & Trout Lodge Estate are endless. Walk along 100-year-old water canals to a spectacular waterfall or climb to Leonard’s Rock, the highest point of the surrounding mountains, and enjoy the magnificent view overlooking the entire valley.

Restricted by very little as there are no dangerous animals to be wary of, guests can explore every inch of the 2000 hectare property.   As a result, the Dawsons Game & Trout Lodge in Mpumalanga is an ideal location for young children to experience nature and make the most of the wide-open spaces

Horseback Safaris

The Lodge is well known for its spectacular scenery, wildlife, and historical interest.  Exciting day drives can be taken to nearby Barberton, Pilgrims Rest (home of the South Africa’s historic Gold Rush), Graskop, Sabie, and Swaziland, as well as the Kruger National Park.

Quad Biking

Quad biking at the Dawson's Estate is a great activity for families to enjoy together as well as corporate groups as part of a team building exercise.  The Lodge offers some thrilling and exceptionally beautiful trails with something for everyone to enjoy.

In no time, total novices will be hitting the target in real groupings and notching respectable scores thanks to the expert tuition of the experienced instructors.

Clay Pigeon Shooting
