Dining at the Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge

The Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve offers its guests a selection of excellent dining venues.  Visitors may choose from a sumptuous dinner next to the fire in the main lodge on a cold night or a traditional meal at the outdoor boma. They also have the option of dining under the stars on the magnificent deck overlooking the waterhole or an unforgettable bush dinner as well as breakfast in the heart of the game rich Nambiti Private Game Reserve.

A delicious brunch is available upon returning from the game drive consisting of either a continental breakfast or hot items made to order. The light lunch at the Elephant Rock Lodge in Nambiti is served before the afternoon safari while the sumptuous dinner awaits guests upon their return at the Lodge. Guests are encouraged to advise the lodge about their special dietary requirements.

Activities, Sports & Leisure

Game viewing

Adventurous early morning and late afternoon game drives which lead to the night are available for guests during their stay at the Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge, KwaZulu-Natal. The safaris which are guided by professional guides and trackers lead through malaria free, 'Big Five' Nambiti Private Game Reserve.

Cheetah Interaction

Guests have the unique chance to learn about the history of the cheetah as well as current and future conservation projects.  Exciting one on one interaction with the cheetahs are part of this activity which takes between 40 minutes to 60 minutes.

Fishing

Visitors may enjoy some quiet time at one of the well-stocked fishing dams where Bass and Yellowtail can be caught.  Fishing rods are available at the Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge.

Golf

Guests who wish to play a round of golf can book at a golf course in the vicinity.

Battlefield tours

Directions

The Nambiti Conservancy is located 25 kilometers east of Ladysmith and is only four and a half hours away from Johannesburg, three and a half hours from Durban and 40 minutes from the Drakensberg.

Directions to the Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge from Johannesburg:

Head for Ladysmith on the N3. Once you have entered KwaZulu-Natal via Van Reenen, look out for the Ladysmith Toll off-ramp (at the bottom of Van Reenens Pass.
Turn left and head towards Ladysmith on the R103. When you arrive in Ladysmith, drive straight through, following the N11 Road to Newcastle.
From the last traffic lights leaving Ladysmith travel for about 7kms.
Turn Right onto the D45 Road, follow for about 10km, at the Y-Junction turn right, go alongside the game fence for 2 Km until you reach the gatehouse which is staffed.

Directions from Durban to the Nambiti Private Game Reserve:

Travel on the N3 through Mooi River Toll Gate (R32.00), past Escourt to Ladysmith (direction Harrismith / Johannesburg).
After Escourt; take the Bergville / Colenso R74 (R103) off-ramp/exit 194, turn right at the top of the off ramp and travel past Colenso towards Ladysmith / Newcastle.
Cross the bridge Klip River (also known as First Wagon Bridge) into Ladysmith and continue following the directions for the N11 to Newcastle; look out for the following land marks: Marks Tyres on left, Game on the left and Kentucky Fried Chicken on the left.
At the traffic light intersection with the Caltex Petrol Station on the left � continue straight over the railway bridge and past TFS on the left and under another railway bridge. At the next traffic lights continue straight (N11) towards Newcastle. Travel for 10kms and look out for the brown Nambiti sign on the left and a small sign is reading D45. This sign is also to the left of the N11.
Turn Right onto the D45 Road (road), travel for 10,3kms; turn right at the Y-Junction (onto the D46) and travel for 2 km until you reach the entrance to Nambiti Private Game Reserve (Electric Gate and Thatched Gate-house).
