Dining at the Inyati Private Game Reserve

The Lodge's guest lounge and dining areas overlook the Sand River, which is the natural habitat of the elephant and hippo. The traditional Shangaan boma is used at night, weather permitting, where you can enjoy your evening with dinner while seated around the crackling fire, under the stars.

Safari Drives

Guests at the Inyati Private Game Lodge, Sabi Sands Reserve, may view Africa’s most incredible wildlife during early morning and afternoon / evening game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles accompanied by expert guides and Shangaan trackers.  The game drives are conducted over an area of 10 000 hectares / 24 700 acres.  Exciting off-road driving guarantees an unforgettable safari with up-close wildlife encounters.

 


 

Guided nature walks

The Inyati Private Game Reserve offers interpretive guided bush walks for guests who are over the age of 16 years.  The guided bush walk can take place with the morning drive and for this exciting activity; guests are encouraged to wear neutral colors and comfortable walking shoes.

Star gazing

The Inyati Game Lodge in the Sabi Sands Reserve offers telescopes for guests to use in order to explore the incredible night sky.  Rangers provide guests with information about the moon, different planets and various constellations which are clearly visible in the crisp, clean night air of the African bushveld free from pollution, lights and air traffic.
 

Swimming

The beautiful outdoor swimming pool at the Inyati Private Game Reserve offers guests the chance of a refreshing swim.

Gym

The Inyati Game Lodge features a fully equipped gym with modern computerized treadmill, stepping machine and bicycle.

Fishing
This Lodge offers to fish to guests who can participate between the early morning and the late afternoon game drives.  The fishing equipment is available at the lodge.  Accompanied by an armed ranger or tracker, fishing is enjoyed in the Sand River and at the causeway.
 
There are over 37 species of fish in the Sand River, including:

Conferences & Events

Conferences at the Inyati Private Game Reserve

Being readily available by both road and air, the Inyati Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands Reserve of the Kruger National Park is the perfect venue for a unique conference getaway.  The Inyati Game Lodge can accommodate up to 22 business delegates.

Tree Tops at Inyati is a separate facility and is about 3 kilometers from the main camp catering for informal conferences and team-building for up to 40 delegates.

The basic conference equipment includes;flipchart, overhead projector, TV, video, notepad, and pens.  Team-building programs are available which encourage competition and teamwork.

For the orientation program at the Inyati Private Game Reserve, small groups of about 8 are formed, each with their own rangers and trackers. These groups are dropped off with their rangers in different regions of the bushveld and delegates are given a rough map and field guide.  A list of specific tasks must be made without the help of rangers, and the first group to arrive back at the destination point with the correct answers wins.

Malaria Status and Animals
  • The Inyati Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands Reserve of South Africa is in a malaria area.

    The Sabi Sands Reserve in the Kruger National Park is home to Africa's magnificent "Big Five" as well as much different bird, animal and plant species.

Children Policy
  • While the Inyati Private Game Reserve is an ideal destination for families, the Inyati Game Lodge is more suited for children who are eight years and older.  The Inyati Game Lodge is in an unfenced reserve; this is a precautionary measure.

    Children who are between 8-10 years sharing a chalet with two full paying adults will pay 50% of the per person sharing rate. Children in their suite will pay the standard adult rates.

    Children are allowed on game drives at the guides’ discretion. Children above 16 may participate in walking safaris, for younger children child-friendly walks around the Inyati Game Lodge with experienced guides are offered.

Directions

INYATI GAME LODGE : SELF DRIVE DIRECTIONS

HAZYVIEW is the town you should be heading to in order to arrive at Inyati game lodge.
Should you be using a navigation system, please ignore all directions after Hazyview.
Please follow OUR directions from there to get to the lodge, do not use GPS.

There are three entry gates into the Sabi Sand Reserve - Shaw's Gate, Newington Gate and Gowrie Gate. Inyati guests can only access via the Newington Gate.
For all visitors, an entrance fee is payable of R110 per person to enter the Sabi Sand Wildtuin, which is payable at the gate. Self-drive visitors must ALSO pay a R250 per vehicle entrance fee, at the gate.
Credit card (Visa & MasterCard) and debit card facilities are now available at Newington gate.
Please retain your receipt as proof of entrance and have it stamped at the lodge reception when you are leaving, which acts as your Exit Permit.
The Gates open at 05h00 / 06h00 and close at 22h00 / 23h00. Please note that these times are subject to change. The Sabi Sand Reserve is a protected reserve and therefore access is restricted - hence the gate opening and closing times.

Directions to Inyati game lodge from Hazyview: ( 66 km)
1. In Hazyview town - Turn right at the second set of traffic lights on to the R536 - Portia Shabangu Drive towards the Paul Kruger gate.
2. After approximately 34kms on the R536, there are signposts for Newington Gate Sabi Sands Game Reserve on the left hand side of the road. There will also be a green road sign indicating “Huntington Lilydale & Justicia”.
3. Turn left on to the gravel road and drive for 9km until you find the 4 way intersection.
4. Turn right at the 4 way intersection towards Newington Gate Sabi Sands and follow the road for another 3km.
5. Turn left at the next Newington gate sign opposite the Preschool.
6. Keep heading towards Newington gate which is where you will enter the Sabi Sand Reserve.
7. Turn left once you have entered Newington Gate and follow all signposts to Inyati.

Recommended route from Johannesburg:
Please note that the drive will take approximately 5h30 / 6 hours 550km)

1. From Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport take the R21 in the direction of Boksburg / East Rand. Then take the N12 towards eMalahleni (Witbank). This road becomes the N4 toll road to Nelspruit.
2. Follow the N4 highway past Middleburg (Toll Plaza), eMakhazeni (Belfast) & Machadodorp (Toll Plaza). Follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 towards Nelspruit / Mbombela.
3. Head east on N4 Nelspruit Northern Bypass. Slight left 270m then turn right toward R37. Go through one roundabout (1.1 km). At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto R37 (800m)
4. Turn left onto Madiba Street 1.9 km and continue onto Provincial P9/2 Rd/R40 continue to follow the R40.
5. Enter White River, along Chief Mgiyeni Khumalo drive, at the traffic light (Express Stores on your right ) turn left onto Theo Kleynhans Street (sign White River Country Estates) green sign - R40 Hazyview /R538 Numbi Gate and continue to follow R40 Hazyview. At the roundabout follow the R40 Phalaborwa
6. Hazyview is about 45km from White River. As you approach Hazyview there is a T-Junction.
7. Turn left at the T-junction following R40 .This road will take you into Hazyview Town.
8. Carry on straight through the first set of traffic lights.
9. In Hazyview - Turn right at the second set of traffic lights on to the R536 - Portia Shabangu Drive towards the Paul Kruger gate
10. *At this point ignore your GPS instructions and follow the instructions given FROM HAZYVIEW (above)

Recommended route from Nelspruit/Kruger Mpumalanga airport: ( 115 km)
1. Turn right coming out of the airport onto the R538 and follow the signs to White River (Witrivier)
2. Continue for approximately 12 km, until you reach the first set of traffic lights in White River, with the mosque on your left
3. Turn right and travel towards Hazyview on the R40. After approximately 45 km, you will go down a steep hill towards a T-junction
4. Turn left, staying on the R40 which will take you into Hazyview town
5. In Hazyview - Turn left at the second set of traffic lights on to the R536 - Portia Shabangu Drive towards the Paul Kruger gate

Recommended route from Hoedspruit: ( 165 km)
1. Follow the R40 Klaserie road towards Hazyview / White River
2. Pass through towns Acornhoek, Casteel and Bushbuckridge to get to Hazyview.
3. In Hazyview - Turn left at the second set of traffic lights on to the R536 - Portia Shabangu Drive towards the Paul Kruger gate
4. *At this point ignore your GPS instructions and follow the instructions given FROM HAZYVIEW (above)

Reccommended route(s) from Kruger National Park:
Depending on your location in the Kruger National Park, we suggest the following:

Route from Orpen gate: ( 172 km)
You can only access Inyati via the Newington Gate
1. Follow the R531 from Orpen gate towards the R40.
2. At the T-junction turn left on to the R40 towards Hazyview / White River
3. Pass through towns Acornhoek, Casteel and Bushbuckridge to get to Hazyview.
4. In Hazyview - Turn left at the second set of traffic lights on to the R536 - Portia Shabangu Drive towards the Paul Kruger gate
5. *At this point ignore your GPS instructions and follow the instructions given FROM HAZYVIEW (above)




Route from Paul Kruger gate: ( 39 km)
1. Exit at the Paul Kruger gate
2. Approximately 7km on the R536 there are signposts for Newington Gate Sabi Sands Game Reserve.
3. Turn right on to the gravel road for 9km until you find the 4 way intersection.
4. Turn right at the 4 way intersection towards Newington Gate Sabi Sands and follow the road for another 3km
5. Turn left at the next Newington gate sign opposite the Preschool.
6. Keep heading towards Newington gate which is where you will enter the Sabi Sand Reserve.
7. Turn left once you have entered Newington Gate and follow all signposts to Inyati.


Please be aware, as you approach the Lodge that you are in a wilderness area where predators and high-profile game roam freely. Do not leave your car for any reason.
