Malaria Status and Animals
  • Besides the 'Big 5', Kambaku in the Timbavati Game Reserve in South Africa is also home to a healthy population of cheetah & wild dog as well as other safari animals which include ground hornbill (on the endangered list), hyena, waterbuck, zebra, wildebeest and giraffe to name but a few.

The highlight of any trip to the Timbavati is the famous Timbavati White Lions.  This Lodge is the only place in the world where these can be observed in their natural habitat.

Malaria is endemic to this particular area of South Africa, and ticks bite fever also quite common.  We recommend highly the use of insect repellent which keeps not only mosquitoes but also ticks, spiders and the like away.

Mosquito nets are available in the chalets at the Kambaku Safari Lodge.  It is however still important to take the necessary medications to prevent infection.

We recommend travellers to consult their travel clinic or doctor before coming to the greater Kruger National Park of South Africa.

Children Policy
  • All children are allowed to stay at the Lodge, and a particular child charge is applicable for kids aged between 2 years – 12 years old. Children under two stay for free.

Children over the age of 4 years are invited to participate in game drives, children over the age of 12 may also enjoy the bush walks.
