Dining at Nambiti Hills Private Game Lodge

The Nambiti Hills Private Game Lodge in KwaZulu-Natal has two highly skilled chefs who offer gourmet meals which guests can enjoy with an open view of the chefs at work.

Delicious meals are served in the main lodge, on the deck, in the open-air boma dinner, at the waterfall as well as in the private enclave just outside the Luxury Suites.  Lunches and dinners are accompanied by the best South African and international wines.

Game drives

Professional safari guides, as well as expert animal trackers, accompany guests on thrilling game drives through the game-rich Nambiti Game Reserve. During the early morning and the late afternoon game drives, guests learn about the biodiversity of this spectacular region of South Africa.

Bird watching

The "Big Five" Nambiti Game Reserve is home to 263 different species of birds, making it a paradise for bird lovers. Birding drives can be arranged at the lodge.

Fishing

There are several dams located within the Nambiti Game Reserve which offer guests the opportunity to fish with a guide. These dams are well stocked with bass and various other fish species.  There are also excellent trout waters in the region with well-stocked dams and pristine stretches of river where brown and rainbow trout occur.

Social Responsibility
  • The luxurious Nambiti Hills has helped to raise over R25 000 for The Rhino Project. They are working with the African Conservation Trust to obtain items to help make the prevention of rhino poaching more efficient.

    The 'Le Sueur Cheetah Project' had been established to help take Cheetahs off the endangered species list. It is the quest of 'Le Sueur Cheetah Project' to strengthen the cheetah gene pool and get new genes back into the various African reserves. The long-term goal is to get these cheetahs to breed and to release their cubs back into the wild.

There are eight Luxury Suites and one Honeymoon Suite at Nambiti Hills Private Game Lodge. Each suite offers a private viewing deck, conservative enclaves leading off the bedroom for special meals as well as an interior featuring an eclectic mix of African designs. The Luxury Suites at Nambiti Hills are suspended from the hillside and provide guests with the most spectacular views. On request, special delicacies and treats can be prepared in the kitchen and brought to the suite.

Directions

Directions to Nambiti Hills from Johannesburg:

1. Take the N3 - heading towards Durban.
2. After Van Reenens Pass take the Ladysmith Toll off-ramp.
3. Take R103 Towards LadySmith.
4. Travel Following the N11, towards Newcastle.
5. Take D45 - Right (7km after the last traffic light as you leave Ladysmith) this is a dirt road.
6. At the T-junction turn right into the D46. Continue for about 4km until you reach a staffed gatehouse on the left, signposted Nambiti.

Directions to Nambiti Hills from Durban:

1. Take the N3 - heading towards Johannesburg, go past Mooi River Toll.
2. Take Bergville / Ladysmith glide off.
3. Turn right towards Colenso / LadySmith. Travel past Colenso.
4. Go through Ladysmith following the N11, towards Newcastle.
5. Take D45 - Right (7km after the last traffic light as you leave Ladysmith) this is a dirt road.
6. At the T-junction turn right into the D46. Continue for about 4km until you reach a staffed gatehouse on the left, signposted Nambiti.
