Royal Suite

The Royal Suite provides a large luxurious private lounge area, a heated plunge pool, two luxury en-suite bedrooms, overlooking the seasonal Monwana River, are on either side of the lounge each decorated in a gentle African-chic style, luxurious bathrooms with floor-to-ceiling glass doors so you have the option of bringing the outdoors in with stunning views while you soak in the bubbles in the luxury bathtub.  An outside shower on the decking adds to the Royal Suite experience.

 

Suite

Three Luxury Suites with spacious sophistication, comfortable beds adorned with an elegant mosquito-netting in an African chic style, each flowing out on to an elevated private decking with a sparkling plunge pool with glorious views of the veld below. The high-lofted thatched roof alongside air-conditioning units ensure you enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and the luxurious bathroom features a floor-to-ceiling glass door opening to bring the outdoors in with stunning views for you to admire as you soak in the bubbles or enjoy the outside shower.

Directions

Coming from the South on the R40:
On the R40 from Bushbuckridge-
From Acornhoek drive approximately 5km and turn right onto the R531, towards the Orpen Gate, Kruger National Park
Drive 12.5km on the R531 and follow the sign for The River Lodge/ Avoca / Ilkley
Turn left and go through the control gate, which is 50meters after the turn-off,
The security will give you a remote for the gate immediately on your left and a second gate after which you follow signs directly to The River Lodge.

From the North on the R40
At Hoedspruit take the R40 south towards Bushbuckridge
Continue on this road for approx. 22.5km until you reach a T-junction
Turn left which is still the R40 towards Bushbuckridge and White River
After approximately 2km, turn left onto the R531 towards Orpen Gate, Kruger National Park.
Drive 12.5km on the R531 and there will be a sign for The River Lodge/ Avoca / Ilkley
Turn left and go through the control gate which is 50 meters after the turn-off.
Security will provide you with a remote for the gate immediately on your left and a second gate after which you follow signs to The River Lodge.

From Johannesburg to Thornybush Game Lodge going Via Hoedspruit:

The N12 to Emalahleni (Witbank), where the N12 highway links up with the N4 highway
Continue with the N4 in the direction Mbombela (Nelspruit).
Approximately 60 km past Middleburg take the R 540 to your left.
Travel through the towns of eMakhazeni (Belfast) and eMnotweni (Dullstroom) to Mashishing (Lydenburg)
Take the R36 which becomes the R527 towards Hoedspruit, passing through Origstad and descending down the Able Erasmus Pass.
At Hoedspruit take the R40 southwards in the direction of Bushbuckridge.
Continue on this road for approximately 22.5km until you reach a T-junction
Turn left towards Bushbuckridge and White River (which is still the R40).
After approximately 2km, turn left onto the R531 towards the Orpen Gate, Kruger National Park.
Drive 12.5km on the R531 and there will a sign for The River Lodge/ Avoca / Ilkley.
Turn left and go through the control gate which is 50meters after the turn-off
The security will give you a remote for the gate immediately on your left and a second gate, after which you follow signs to The River Lodge Via Klaserie the recommended route.

The N12 to Emalahleni (Witbank), where the N12 highway links up with the N4 highway Continue with the N4 in the direction Mbombela (Nelspruit).

Continue on until you get to the Khamai reptile park on your left. Here you turn right on to the R531 towards Orpen.
Continue straight 32km until you get to the R531 / Orpen turnoff to your left, which you will take.
Drive 12.5km on the R531 and there will a sign for The River Lodge/ Avoca / Ilkley
Turn left and go through the control/security gate, which is 50 meters after the turn-off,
the security will provide you with a remote for the gate immediately on your left and a second gate after which you follow signs to The River Lodge.

Parking

On site parking facilities are provided for guests.
